Service Providers are ISVs (Independent Software Vendors) and MSPs (Managed Service Providers) who design, develop and deploy web-based business applications that connect information, people and processes in the LongJump Platform.

About ISVs and MSPs

Key differences

• ISVs host the LongJump Platform on servers they manage, while MSPs use an ISV-hosted instance of the LongJump Platform
• Configuration options differ for ISVs and MSPs, because hosting is controlled at a different level

ISVs

Independent Software Vendors (ISVs) are Service Providers who use the Installable Version of the platform.

ISVs generally:

• Design custom application solutions
• Set up Collaborative Development Configurations
• Manage Tenants and MSPs in a self-hosted environment, to support users in multiple tenancies.
• Use Service Provider Settings to specify global settings that apply to all tenants
• Manage Tenant Capabilities to specify settings for individual tenants
• Customize the user interface, support information and branding for tenants.

ISVs may also:

• Set up Platform Request Listeners
• Set up a Default Tenant Database

Considerations

• MSPs are considered Tenants of an ISV
• ISVs provide Customer Support to their MSPs and Tenants

• Although MSPs are responsible for adding and managing their own tenants, ISVs can act as support agents for MSPs via Customer Support Login, and can provide support for cases escalated from MSP

MSPs

Managed Service Providers (MSPs) are Service Providers who work with ISV Partners to design custom application solutions. MSPs can support users in multiple tenancies. They can customize the user interface, support information, and manage branding for tenants, all in an environment hosted by the ISV.

MSPs typically:

• Manage Tenants in a hosting environment maintained by an ISV
• Use MSP Settings to specify global options that apply to all tenants
• Manage Tenant Capabilities to specify options for individual tenants

Considerations

• MSPs partner with ISVs, who take on management of the Installable Version hosting environment.
• MSPs can create, manage and delete Tenants
• MSPs can Manage Tenant Capabilities
• MSPs are considered Tenants of an ISV
• MSPs can provide Customer Support to their Tenants
• Alternatively, ISVs can provide Customer Support to their MSPs/Tenants

• Although MSPs are responsible for adding and managing their own tenants, ISVs can act as support agents for MSPs via Customer Support Login, and can provide support for cases escalated from MSP

• MSPs also have the ability to log in to tenant accounts by proxy to resolve issues (Customer Support Login)
• MSPs are considered Tenants of an ISV
• Configuration of the MSP service is via MSP Settings

About MSP Tenants

• There is no trial period for Tenants of an MSP
• Tenants of an MSP are not attached to any monthly or yearly billing plans provided by the LongJump Platform
