Metering for AgileApps

What is Metering?

Metering collects information related to the usage of Software AG products which in turn is later used for billing purposes. Every metering-enabled product has a product formula associated with it. This product formula is listed as a configuration in the metering application. Metering uses a license file for authentication and client information gathering.

Metering in AgileApps

In AgileApps, metering is available for both on-premise and cloud customers. A new customer is onboarded as follows:

On-premise Customer

When new cusomer subscibes to use metering for on-premise products he gets a dedicated metering license. This license should be uploaded to metering application before any installed Software AG metering-enabled products are started and start to report usage data. Normally, customer needs to be onboarded only once, no matter how many on-premise products have been enabled to use metering. In some specific use cases, customer needs more than one metering license, all apllicable licenses need to be added to the metering app as well.

When a new customer subscribes to use metering for an on-premise Software AG product, they get a dedicated metering license. The customer has to upload this license to the metering application through metering
